Cool and rainy conditions persisted through spring and summer, resulting in a low yield of fruit that retained remarkable acidity and freshness. The wine from this vintage is distinctive, showcasing lower alcohol, softer tannins, and a lighter body than what is typically expected from Merlot. To highlight its exceptional brightness and fruit-forward character, it was aged for 12 months in gently used 1-2 year-old barrels. The wine delights with vibrant flavors of fresh strawberry and raspberry, elegantly accented by a delicate hint of spice. This unique and limited production includes only 1,400 bottles and 60 magnums, making it a rare and special offering.

Blend

Growing Conditions

Spring brought cold spells, including severe frosts in early April, which affected vine development and reduced yields. Consistent rainfall throughout the season led to severe disease pressure, necessitating vigilant vineyard management. Late spring bought a slight improvement with warmer temperatures that supported better ripening conditions. An Indian summer in late August provided much-needed warmth and sunshine, aiding in grape maturation somewhat though not truly providing enough warmth to achieve optimal ripeness.
